BRIEF HISTORY

Pacific Chartering & Trading (Pvt) Ltd has been involved in commodities trading, vessel handling and ship chartering business since 1995, and are one of the leading importers in Pakistan with annual sales turnover of S$ 25.000 Million  for the year 2006.

Trading

Since inception, we have successfully exported about 0.5 million tons of Chrome Ore, which is a non traditional commodity being exported and comes to around 50% of the total export of Chrome Ore from Pakistan. After successful operations for five years, we also entered into the trading of soft commodities like Phosphatic Fertilizers, Wheat, Lentils & Rice.

We have imported and distributed about 100,000 MT of DAP per annum and also established our own brand, named “BARKAT DAP” that is well accepted in the local market. We are one of the five authorized commercial importers licensed to import fertilizers into Pakistan.

Apart from this, we are also involved in intending of Coal and Fertilizer.

Shipping

We have successfully concluded and executed large Contract of Affreightment (COA) of Iron Ore, Coal, Fertilizers and Wheat. We in average handle almost 50 vessels in a year consisting of Panamax size vessel at both Ports of Pakistan.

We have staff of over 20 people all qualified and experienced in their related fields.

Management

Pacific Chartering & Trading (Pvt.) Limited comprises of a professional management, having vast experience and expertise in trading & shipping business. It employs fully trained and professional staff members, in the fields of import, export and sales.

Mr. Rasheed Barket - Fertilizer expert, with over 25 years of experience in fertilizers.

Captain Abdul Rashid Abro, (Ex-Captain Merchant Navy), who is also advisor on Shipping, FPCCI, and trading of commodities. Member FPCCI since last 5 years. He has the experience of over 30 years in Shipping.

Mr. Ather Adil Mallick with local trading association of almost 25 years.

Mr. Atif Rashid Abro, (Ex-Banker), who is also son of Captain Rashid Abro is actively streamlining and expanding the operations of the company and managing the financial activities of the company.

Mr. Bilal Barket, (son of Rasheed Barket) completed his Bachelors in 2006 from University of Toronto, Canada and has been thoroughly trained in Hong Kong and Singapore by Noble Group, specializing in Coal.
